The Background

In 1995, Love Children’s Home was founded by a couple committed to God and His heart for the people of Myanmar. Peter Za Hlun Thang and his wife, Rebecca Sun Zing, began LCH with 20 children in a small bamboo hut built on the land they rented in Yangon. Although food and resources were scarce, the orphanage was birthed in unwavering love. Thus came the name: LOVE Children's Home.

Over the years, the Lord continued to bless the ministry, and LCH grew rapidly, with hundreds of children having grown up under the care and leadership of Peter and Rebecca. The great sacrifices and love of Peter and Rebecca shaped the lives of countless people in Myanmar and beyond. Today, LCH has birthed 12 network orphanages across the nation of Myanmar that collectively care for 500+ children from all different regions and backgrounds. Since the very beginning, the vision for the children has remained the same: “they may have life, and have it abundantly”.

This vision for an abundant life was always centered on a relationship with Jesus Christ that gives great hope for this life and the next. LCH exists to make this a reality for the children of Myanmar as they learn and grow to be the future leaders of their nation. At LCH, the very heart of this abundant life and future is grounded in quality education. The fractured education system in Myanmar has not served children to their greatest potential, and we at LCH want to change that. We want to provide the best possible education for the children and equip them to pursue their dreams and transform their futures.

Peter Thang Private School

In August 2021, we experienced the devastating loss of our beloved founder and leader, Peter Thang. A true warrior of the faith, Peter’s life and example changed and inspired so many people, and we want to faithfully honor his life and continue his legacy for generations to come. Peter always believed in the children and desired the best education, meaningful future, and abundant life in Jesus for his children. This vision for better opportunities for the children is being realized in the Peter Thang Private School.

The Peter Thang Private School will serve the 500+ children of the LCH network. The school curriculum will integrate Bible classes, prayer, and regular chapel service to give students a Christ-centered foundation. We will also provide quality instruction in a variety of subjects, from math and science to reading and English. The long-term vision for the school includes vocational training and internships for high school seniors to gain experience in the workforce and build connections that will lead to employment opportunities.

Scholarship and Resources

We are wholeheartedly committed to supporting and equipping the children to build the abundant lives God has for them, in which we believe the Peter Thang School will play an incredible role. To ensure the success of our long-term vision, we are also establishing the Peter Thang Memorial Foundation, which will provide scholarships and resources for our students as they graduate and seek higher education, vocational training, small business development, and more. We believe God has given our children big dreams for their futures, and He is actively preparing them to impact the nation of Myanmar for His Kingdom. The Peter Thang Memorial Foundation is a strategic, intentional means through which to equip the future leaders of Myanmar now. Our students are excited and ready to pursue the dreams and opportunities before them, and the Lord’s blessing of Foundation resources will do just that.
